PASSION WEEK
Wednesday

On day four of Passion week, Christ Jesus was betrayed by one of His inner circle. Who could possibly follow the Lord Jesus and hear His teaching, see His healings, watch His life, eat with Him, and travel abroad witnessing His many marvelous works, and then betray Him? There was one of the twelve disciples named Judas Iscariot; It was Judas that betrayed our Lord to the religious leaders. He betrayed Him for a little bit of monetary gain.

As we celebrate Passion week leading up to Easter Sunday, we should examine our own heart and look for the very weaknesses that Judas succumb to. We should ask ourselves questions like these: Do I betray the Lord? Do I gamble away time spent with Him for earthly gain? Do I sell out what I know to be true about Christ for some quick fix of pleasure in this world?

These are all questions that we should always examine and especially during Passion week. If we are honest, we betray our Lord all the time. We do so through disobedience, unwillingness to submit to Him, and we betray Him with our heart. We give so much of our heart to everything under the son, all the while, we give very little of our heart to the Lord.

May we learn valuable lessons from the betrayal of Judas and work diligently to remain faithful to Christ, His Church, and the work of His ministry. We too can betray our Lord for things that are so worthless in comparison to the worthiness of our Savior.

Matthew 26:14—16 “14 Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, 15 And saidunto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. 16 And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.”
